The Teaching & Assessment Method

The teaching method at STIE Perbanas may differ from what students have been used to at high school level. Students need to be able to understand and apply concepts and theories, and to critically examine arguments. Teaching and learning sessions will take in the forms:

Lectures – lectures are presented by academic staff to a large group of students who listen and take note, gaining an overview of subject areas and direction for further discussion

Tutorials – these are designed to help students get better understanding regarding quantitative subjects taught during the lectures. In this, they are guided by academic staff or senior students

Practical – some teaching sessions may take place in computer or science laboratories. This will enable students to apply concepts learned

Company visits – these sessions take students off campus to learn about a topic by visiting business organizations.

Assessment may include a range of methods, such as formal end-of-semester examinations, mid-semester examinations, and continuous assessment throughout the semester, written assignments/essays, group assignments, presentation, tests, laboratory-based assignments, papers, oral exam and seminars.
